Updates from
Last Year's Winners
This is Adam Frank, the winner of the Philly Gators scholarship this year. I would first like to thank the Philly Gators for awarding me with such a prestigious scholarship. My family and I are extremely appreciative and it is nice to be recognized. As for my first year at the University of Florida, it is everything I hoped it would be. Although I struggled with my initial major, Pre-Pharmacy, I changed majors to Chemical Engineering and have been very happy since then. Since the start of spring semester I have become involved in intramural basketball and flag football. I am looking forward to my sophomore semester already as I will begin to study Organic Chemistry which is one of my favorite topics. I would just like to thank everyone in the Philly Gators organization again for everything.
Go Gators, Adam Frank I couldn’t ask for more in my first year
at the University of Florida. I rushed at
the beginning of fall and joined my
sorority, Kappa Delta. Kappa Delta has
become a home away from home for me. I love
the girls and have already made great
memories with them. My favorite part of the
fall was game days. Even though I didn’t
have season tickets I managed to go to all
the football games. I even got to go on a
road trip to New Orleans to watch the LSU
game. Through my sorority, I have been able
to get involved in a lot of different
philanthropies. Dance Marathon was just a
couple weeks ago and UF raised over $427,000
for the Children’s Miracle Network at the
Shands Children’s Hospital. Kappa Delta won
the Miracle Cup along with our fraternity
partner Kappa Sigma. The Miracle Cup is
given to the team with the highest
combination of spirit points and money
raised. Together we raised just under
$60,000. The event was truly moving and I am
so glad that I got a chance to participate.
I am majoring in Building Construction with
a minor in Business. I really enjoyed all
the classes I took and finished with a high
GPA. Any time I needed extra help or had
questions, the teachers were happy to spend
some time with me. I love Florida so much
that I am staying for some summer courses.
Florida has given me everything and more I
wanted in a college: great sports, great
school spirit, great academics and great
friends. I am honored to accept this
scholarship. Thank you and GO GATORS! Lauren Murphy
